The TWIKE

The TWIKE is a complete new save traffic-concept. As sportive as a bike, the targa feeling of a porsche, the sound of the metro and stirring and sitting like a glider.
The TWIKE is an lightweight electro-vehicle for two persons. It’s the first vehicle in the world that combines an electrical driven automobile with paddles. The muscle-power is directly converted into movement so a maximum speed of 85 km/u can be reached. Depending on driving style, speed and paddling the TWIKE can reach a distance of 200 km with 1 battery-load.

While driving the TWIKE, you hardly notice it’s three-wheels concept. Because of a low centre of gravity, the TWIKE drives amazingly stable (a test drive will convince you). Therefore the TWIKE is legally allowed to drive everywhere a normal car may go, including highways.
Operating a TWIKE is special and unique because of the absence of a steering wheel. An easy to use joystick takes care of that. With just one hand you control the TWIKE, steering, breaking and accelerating. All these functions are integrated into the joystick, including cruise control. The instinctive use of the joystick makes driving a TWIKE a child’s play which can be learned quickly and easily. The onboard computer displays actual speed, reach and battery conditions. This gives you, in a glance, a complete overview of the status of your TWIKE.

Batteries of the TWIKE can be loaded quickly. In one minute the TWIKE loads enough energy for one km. The TWIKE is build to consume as few energy as possible while riding a maximum distance (in an acceptable time). The energy consumption of the TWIKE equals 1 liter for 200 km (0,5 liter per 100 km). This means that a TWIKE is more than 10 times more energy efficient than a traditional combustion engine car. Even the new hybrid or electric plugin cars which are just developed can’t cope with this efficiency. The relatively small batteries have enough energy to drive for 200 km. This means that your battery-cost stay relatively low.

Just like normal cars the TWIKE belts must be warn and the front mirror is made of safety glass. As far as we know, there hasn’t been any serious accidents with the TWIKE. But because of the lightweight concept, airbags and thick steel constructions aren’t present in the TWIKE. Your safety is primarily ensured by your save driving style (similar like motorcycling). Instantly steering and the spartan driving ensure your optimum control over this vehicle.
