TWIKE 4 – SUCCESS
Electric mobility is already working today. The WAVE has shown that. With individual stages of about 120 km and daily stages of up to 400 km, electric vehicles covered much more distance than others usually cover on a daily basis. Whether manoeuvrable in city traffic in the streets of Paris or capable of climbing over Swiss Alps passes in snow or rain: The TWIKE teams could outstandingly play the advantages of its relatively small and lightweight vehicles. The challenge to successively cross the Grimsel and Furka Passes (2,436 m.a.s.l.) on 18th September in fog and rain as well as the snow-covered Oberalp Pass (2,046 m.a.s.l.) on 19th September was an amusing pleasure for the TWIKE and TW4XP. Only about a quarter of the participants made it over all three passes on their own wheels.

The evaluation criteria in this competition were multifaceted: In addition to range, speed and acceleration, also the likeability factor was included and the vehicles were rated by more than 2,000 pupils at various schools visited on the way. In Dortmund, a delegation of the city considered the innovation factor of the vehicles, in Vienna, the luggage compartment was put under the microscope and in St. Poelten it was about pushing: which team brought its vehicle across the 100m finish line first without engine power.
Team TWIKE 4 won several competitions with 10 out of 10 points and shone brightly in the lap time on the racetrack in Zolder, Belgium, in the criterion of innovation and with full marks at the parking competition held in Augsburg. The TWIKE celebrated among other things its famously good efficiency: the TWIKE was the most efficient multi-seated vehicle in the competition with 9 out of 10 points.
